Beyond simplicity - 31 October 2010 |

Some highlights from Steve Hayhow’s sermon on Proverbs 1:1-7 at Emmanuel this morning:
- “The Bible draws the distinction not between head and heart, but between faith that’s dead and faith that’s alive.”
- “Proverbs are like boiled sweets – they’re designed to be eaten one at a time … slowly.”
- “Proverbs are like pebbledash – no two of them are alike.”
- There are three types of people in Proverbs 1:1-7: the wise, the simple and the fool.
- “‘Simple’ is not an insult; it’s a description … We come into the world simple, naive, inexperienced, easily taken in … we learn shrewdness, prudence, discernment… We need to grow beyond simplicity.”
