Jesus’ conversation with James and John about their request for the best seats in the kingdom exemplifies his humility wonderfully.
In response to their request, Jesus neither replies “No” (thereby granting or even endorsing their proud desires), nor “Yes” (thereby hinting that he intending to keep the best seats back for some other purpose), but “It’s not up to me.”
Typical Jesus; perfect humility.
