Here’s the beginning of an exchange I heard a while ago during an oral examination to assess a candidate’s suitability for ordination as a Minister:
Examiner: How important do you think the Psalms are for God’s people?
Candidate: Oh yes, really important. They should be at the heart of our piety and a central feature of our worship.
Examiner. Great. So then, please could you summarise in a couple of sentences the message of each of the Psalms. Start with Psalm 1 and work your way through to Psalm 150.
