Some thoughts for writers from Douglas and Nate Wilson.
1. Read voraciously.
2. Be ready to criticise. “If you want to be a writer you have to be a connoisseur”; “You need … a strong sense of distaste” (Nate).
3. It’s not enough just to want to do the sort of stuff that (you think) other people are already doing perfectly well.
4. If you’re pre-mill or a-mill, you’ll be likely to “struggle [both in the writing process, and in the content and effect of the finished product, I suspect] against your own concepts of victory” (Nate). “Eschatology drives everything … eschatology colours everything” (Doug).
