Thought for the Day - 15 August 2011 |
|
Canon Dr Alan Billings, speaker on this morning’s Thought for the Day, tells us that in his experience talking to at least one ex-gang-member, there are three significant factors which gang membership seemed to satisfy:
(1) Respect – something he desired (and felt he lacked) from other people his own age;
(2) A sense of worth – something he desired (and felt he lacked) from those who should have been (but weren’t) close to him, such as family members;
(3) Something to do. Well, that’s pretty obvious, right?
