Guided Reading Course

The Emmanuel Guided Reading Course covers all the major areas of Christian doctrine: Natural and special revelation, God, creation, humanity, sin, Christology, salvation, the church and eschatology.

Here's a more detailed overview of the content of the course:

Introduction: How to read, introductory logic, godliness in theological study, prayer.

Revelation: General revelation, special revelation, the canon of Scripture.

God: Images and idolatry, the names of God, the essence and attributes of God, divine simplicity, the Trinity.

Creation: The creation of man, the image of God, God's purpose in creation.

Sin: The Fall, original sin, the bondage of the will, the corruption of human nature.

Christology: The purpose of the incarnation, Christology from the NT to Chalcedon (AD 451), Christological heresies, later Christological developments.

Salvation: Biblical themes and imagery, biblical theology, covenant theology, critique of dispensationalism, election, the offices of Christ, the atonement, union with Christ, repentance and faith, justification, justification and the law in Galatians.

The church: The church as the body of Christ, church and society, baptism, the Lord's Supper, the church and the state.

Eschatology: The Day of the Lord, the renewal of creation, continuity and discontinuity, glory, hell, millennial views.
